Fanteakwa North Assembly Flunks to Elect Presiding Member

The Fanteakwa North Assembly in the Eastern Region could not choose a substantial presiding member since none of the three contestants met the two-thirds out of a total of 42 assembly members present vote.

The three who contested the first round had the following results: Nana Ofori Amoyaw II - 16 votes, Ernest Darkwa - 15 votes and Robert Benning - 9 votes with two rejected ballots.

In the second round, Robert Benning declined contesting leaving Nana Ofori Amoyaw II - 21 votes and Ernest  Darkwa - 20 votes which one was rejected.

After the second round, the assembly agreed to a motion proposed by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Charles Oware Tweneboah postponing the election to the assembly's next sitting to enable the house carry out other agendas laid before members.

He again appealed to assembly members to bury their differences and elect presiding member (PM) one touch in the next election to facilitate smooth movement of developments in the district.
